MALAYSIANS WANT REMOTE WORK TO STAY

As workplace norms are changing to embrace remote work, we are beginning to see trends emerge in the preferred and most productive style of operations here within Malaysia.

Employees and Employers prefer work from home (WFH)

A KPMG survey conducted during the first Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia showed that 69% of employees felt that WFH as a new normal should continue. This was further supported by the 56% of business owners who felt that this was the best way going forward too.

The survey also found that companies that implement clear WFH guidelines saw the highest rate of agreeableness among employees when asked if they’d like WFH to continue. This can be achieved through using the appropriate tools for communicating with employees, as well as offering frequent updates.

HR and their influence

An active HR department helps to increase the productivity levels of employees by 7% when compared to other ineffective approaches. KPMG’s Head of Advisory also noted that embracing remote work and the new normal is the emerging trend globally.
