5 WAYS OF IMPROVING CUSTOMER DATA MANAGEMENT

Customer data management is a single place where you store all client information be it past, existing or prospective. It is a convenient digital space where you and your team would be able to pull out any important information (ie: customer contact, deal details, notes, etc.) at any time systematically without worries. Here are five ways for you to optimise your customer data management:

  1. Not All Data Relevant It’s often believed that getting as much data on customers would be best practice. However, this may not be the case in most situations. Your team can easily get bogged down in unimportant details when too much information is gathered. Furthermore, this can make it increasingly difficult to segment your lists or to track relevant information.

It is best to only gather highly relevant information that serves a specific and important purpose.

  2. Improve Data Management by Limiting Access When too many people in your company have access to your customer database, there is a chance that the information may be segmented, manipulated or even deleted unintentionally. This can result in time and financial loss. It could also negatively affect your ability to effectively use the data that you still have access to.

Consider sharing the data as a read-only rather than giving full access to edit, which can be achieved through our Business Management System!

  3. Security not an Afterthought IT security is a hot topic today, and you may be well aware of the fact that data or security breaches can result in huge liability issues for companies. In addition, they can spell disaster for your customers who have had their identity stolen or who are dealing with other issues as a result of a corporate security breach.

All data should be safeguarded as if it contained your own personal information, which is why your data security takes top priority when using our business management system. Learn more about our data security HERE

  4. Educate Team on Importance of Data and Security A smart idea is to train all employees on data usage and security. This is particularly important if your team can access customer data from their own devices through a cloud-based system. For example, your employees should know that accessing customer data via public Wi-Fi is not safe and can lead to security breaches.
  5. Always Keep an Eye-out on the Data Your data should always be maintained in an organised and complete manner. You should be observant for signs of deletion, manipulation, redundancy and more. While the data management may be in flux, it should still be coherent and complete.

Developing an effective way to monitor your data is critical. It can be time consuming to monitor it yourself, but with our business management system you’d be able to do it easily at just a tap of your finger!
